How long have you owned the property? Five years in July 2024

What are the neighbours like? Lovely neighbours, kind, generous and always available if needed. All neighbours get together on the green for the summer BBQ.

What attracted you to this specific house and location?

The house is a stunning house. Located in an historic village, with beautiful walks on our doorstep. It is very quiet, peaceful, safe environment within close proximity to all necessary facilities.

We were returning from living in the us where we lived in an apartment in a large city, so wanted to find somewhere which was a little quieter but close enough to facilities and amenities.

We needed to find a house which was close to the main Airports for my work requirememts. Hilderstone is approx. An hour from the International Airports of Manchester, Birmingham and East Midlands.

What would you like to tell parents about the benefits of raising children here?

While we have not raised our children here, we know from other families in Barnes Croft that there are excellent schools, both public and private, in close proximity and all served by school buses. There are lots of sporting activities close by, including football, cricket, golf.

There is also a very active Village Hall, which has lots of activities for children.

What made you choose this property over the others that were available?

We had the option to initially rent this property, and this gave us time to consider whether we would make the move permanent, which we did four months later, when purchasing the house.

How convenient is it for commuting from here?

Excellent Airport options, Train station in Stone is four miles away and Stafford Train station is 10 miles. Main Motorways heading North and South make access easy.

What can you tell us about the history of the property and how it has been adapted by previous owners?

Who do you think would be the ideal next owner?

This is a large house which can be suitable for families of all sizes and ages. It is very suitable for professional people, who may be working from home with the annex to the side of the house offering a large flexible space. This has been previously used as a doctors surgery.

What changes have you made to the house since you've owned it?

The house needed some modernisation when we purchased. We have changed all the external windows and doors, changed all the internal doors, had new electric operated garage doors fitted, had the entrance hall and front door redesigned to enable light to flow from the front to the back of the house. Replaced all flooring downstairs, re=modelled the downstairs cloakroom, replaced the radiators downstairs, invested in the garden layout and design, extensive re-decorating throughout.

What's your favourite room and why?

The living room, since we redecorated. It has a great sense of space, light and comfort.

What changes are you most proud of and why?

Changing the external windows and internal doors from dark brown to Irish Oak has made a very significant difference to the feel and appearance of the house

Memorable/remarkable event?

We have hosted an annual Jingle and Mingle Xmas event since 2019, which have been great fun with the neighbours.

What do you love about the house the most now?

Everything

The neighbours and sense of community

What do you love about the local community?

The fresh country air and the access to amazing walks.

Why have you decided to move on?

In spite of having a wonderful five years in Barnes Croft, we want to be closer to our grandchildren and work commitments.
