Property description

Overview

Why buy this home?

Situated on a lane with a handful of houses, this home has an impressive frontage with two five-bar gates securing a block paved driveway for multiple cars. Initially you have a double-glazed porch which is the ideal place for coats and shoes, keeping the welcoming entrance hall free of clutter.

Solid American hardwood flooring flows through to the living room - the centrepiece of this home. Standing at an impressive 300 sq.ft (approx), it isn't just a great size but its shape lends itself to a sociable layout with the ability to position furniture facing each other. It truly is an all-year-round room with bi-fold doors opening it up to the garden, and a dual-fuel burner making it the perfect space to host family gatherings. Off one side of the living room is the home office which is large enough for two desks and has its own door to the garden meaning you can step outside for comfort breaks.

The garden is predominately west-facing meaning you benefit from the sun all afternoon. There is an initial patio which stretches the width of the house and provides side access on both sides, as well as a further raised patio area which is the ideal spot for outside entertaining. The remainder of the garden is mainly laid to lawn with mature borders which are home to hardy plants/shrubs and two beautiful silver birch trees.

Off the other side of the living room is the impressive dining room which also has French doors leading on to the garden. As shown by the current owners, it is the perfect place to host lavish dinner parties and seasonal meals for the whole family. The kitchen is accessed off both the dining room and the hallway and has recently been refitted. Handmade by a local supplier, it has been painted in dual tones making the island a standout feature. White quartz worktops give the kitchen a crisp finish, whilst the column radiator ensures this space is sympathetic to the age of the house, whilst still being modern. Appliances include an integrated dishwasher, fridge/freezer and eye-level AEG double oven with steam functionality. Lastly there is a bora venting induction hob.

Downstairs is completed by a refitted WC and access to the garage which in turn gives access to the utility room which houses the washing machine and tumble dryer away from the main living space, so as to reduce noise.

Upstairs you are greeted by a galleried landing which has a nook which could be used for a study/homework area, or somewhere to utilise as a feature. All the bedrooms are doubles, making upstairs light and spacious rather than cramped by squeezing in a token fifth bedroom. Bedrooms two to four are served by a lovely four piece family bathroom with separate shower cubicle, and is half-tiled in grey tiles. The master bedroom has ample built-in storage including a dressing table, double chest of drawers and the equivalent of seven single wardrobes. The ensuite is a delight, housing a corner bath and corner shower unit - a haven for the owners.

The house has been significantly upgraded including an air source heat pump which pays back approximately £465 per quarter via Government incentives, solar panels that has an iBoost function to heat the hot water, and a new consumer unit.

More about the location...

Stoke Hammond is a village and also a civil parish situated in the north of the unitary authority area of Buckinghamshire, England, about two and a half miles south of Fenny Stratford, Milton Keynes.

The A4146 used to pass through the village until the bypass opened on 14 September 2007.

The village is close to the West Coast Railway line, although there is no station in the village. The nearest stations are Bletchley and Leighton Buzzard.

The Grand Union Canal passes close by the village.

It is one of the 51 Thankful Villages which lost no men in the First World War, as first identified by the writer Arthur Mee in the 1930s.

It is within catchment to Cottesloe School in Wing, but a lot of parents take advantage of the three Aylesbury Grammar Schools.
