Owners Comments....

We moved here 13 years ago, wanting somewhere with character. We couldn’t believe how lucky we were to find just what we were looking for. Somewhere with spacious rooms that had wonderful features like original Edwardian ceiling roses, original fireplace (with a modern open flame gas fire for instant heat) and coloured glass window panels. It has two conservatories, one making a lovely dining room and one providing a fantastic place to have a coffee looking out over the garden. This room is warm even in winter if the sun is shining as it faces south.

The garden is overlooked by decking, which is a wonderful area to eat and entertain in during the summer. The parties we have held during our time here have been very successful as there are two ways to the decking from the kitchen and a there is barbecue on the decking.

The property also has sole use of the garden. It is a wildlife haven yet big enough for the grandchildren to play in and has space for growing vegetables. We have enjoyed looking after it and the occupants of the upstairs apartments enjoy looking at it too.

We were concerned about the noise from the other apartments and the road outside but there was no need. The occupiers of the other apartments are respectful and quiet and the building is far enough back from the road that traffic noise is not an issue.

We knew the area before we moved here so we knew that we were within walking distance of Caversham centre with shops, doctor, dentist and library. The parade of shops nearby provides groceries, takeaways, cycling facilities, hairdressing and even the opportunity for a flutter. Nearby is also a friendly garage that has helped us out a few times. Reading town centre and station is not that far away either. Walking or cycling there doesn’t take long at all.

Being one of the Directors of the company that maintains the house means that we have control over what is and isn’t done when repairs are needed. It means that we can live in a wonderful building but share the cost of maintaining it with others. We think it’s a great arrangement.

We absolutely love this property! It’s in a great position with easy access to shops, schools, gp surgery and of course Reading and Caversham centres. The property has a truly amazing garden which is a fantastic space for entertaining or just relaxing whilst you enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

The apartment also offers two bedrooms plus a flexible third bedroom/office, perfect for anyone that works from home. The period features are simply stunning and add to the overall charm. There have been several recent upgrades such as oak flooring and carpets plus a new boiler. Storage is not a problem as there is ample space for everything. This is a property that we loved from the moment we saw it and we are sure that the new owners will love it too.

Area comments....

This apartment is set back from the road allowing peace and tranquillity yet walkable to Caversham centre with its shops, cafe’s and restaurants. There is a parade of shops just a short stroll away including a small supermarket, takeaway and bike shop amongst others.

Caversham has some great schools for both primary and secondary education and plenty of beautiful parkland and green space, including the River Thames and Caversham Court.

Reading town centre is walkable including the mainline train station allowing fast access to London. Henley and the towns and villages of Oxfordshire are a short drive or bus journey away.
