Property description

Welcome to this charming Victorian farmhouse in Hengoed, Shropshire, a true gem with an abundance of character, dating back to the early 1800s with the front facade being added in 1907.
Steeped in history, this home has been sympathetically extended in 2017, seamlessly blending the old with the new to create a harmonious living space that caters to modern needs.
The home is blessed with plenty of natural light due to the south-facing frontage, with all reception and bedrooms benefitting from the brightness. Upon entering, you are greeted by the charm of this farmhouse, boasting three reception rooms and five spacious double bedrooms and providing ample accommodation for a growing family or visiting guests.
Of the three generously proportioned reception rooms, two have wood burners, one has an open fire and each exudes its own unique character and charm. One of the reception rooms features a captivating spiral staircase leading to a wonderful bedroom with en suite, an architectural delight that adds a touch of elegance to the space. A craft room located in the extension is a very flexible space and could equally be used as a home office.
The heart of the home lies within the 26 ft bespoke, handmade kitchen/diner, a space where culinary delights come to life and cherished memories are made. This well-appointed area provides the perfect backdrop for family gatherings or entertaining friends, with ample room for dining and socialising. The boot room offers access to the rear of the property and is a well-utilised room on wetter days or access for four-legged friends.

First floors: We have two sets of stairs in this wonderful home with the original stairs leading to four bedrooms and two bathrooms with all four of these bedrooms offering ample space for wardrobes and storage.
A highlight of the home and part of the 2017 extension, is a spiral staircase leading to a double bedroom with en-suite and vaulted ceiling, a bank of built in wardrobes provide plenty of room for clothes and shoes.
The home has the potential for an annexe by converting the office/crafts room into a kitchen, alongside the large reception area, staircase to bedroom with en-suite facility - a great option if you have needs for independent living.

"Sellers comments"
Moving to Mardy Farm House provided us with our country adventure. The house, extended by us, has been perfect for hosting large family gatherings, social occasions and even neighbourhood parties. Mardy Farm House is truly magical at Christmas, bedecked with greenery from the local hedgerows. We have truly loved our time here and will take with us many happy memories from listening to the distinctive call of the curlews nesting in the neighbouring fields or the tawny owls at dusk; watching the silage being cut and baled in the summer and waking up to beautiful bucolic views of cattle grazing and horses running free in the fields. You can actually hear the cattle grazing from the bedroom window on a summers morning! There are so many birds that come and visit the garden -greenfinches, goldfinches, woodpeckers, pheasants and the occasional free range chicken, to name but a few. The south facing garden is a wonderful place to relax with a glass of something chilled or have a snooze in the hammock hanging beneath the shade of the damson tree. The games room provides a year round space for relaxing.

We feel that we have created the perfect balance between socialising, family life, working from home and the infrastructure for a small holding - chicken house and enclosure with orchard, separate vegetable plot with well stocked fruit cage, 42ft polytunnel, greenhouse, three acre field with natural pond and excellent storage for the tools needed.
