Property description

Located in a beautiful rural setting this two-storey Semi detached house is within easy commuting distance of Inverness City Centre, but still far enough away to feel it is in the depth of the countryside.

The drive to the property takes you alongside the spectacular Loch Ness to the village of Foyers; 8 Riverside is reached by crossing the historic Bailey Bridge over the River Foyers. From there, a quiet country road leads to the small group of neat and well-cared properties, all similar in age and style to 8 Riverside.

Built in 1955, this is a fabulous example of a mid-century property typical of the area. The house is on a bend in the lane creating a very generous area of lawn and garden to the front of the house. Its roadside view, along with the neighbouring houses, is one of a group of pretty homes in an established settlement.

The immediate feel of entering the house is of warmth and welcome, with its sunny and colourful kitchen offering a cosy family-centred space. The open-plan kitchen is fitted with a generous number of traditionally styled cabinets and access to the garden. At the far end is a comfortable dining area.

A cosy living room benefits from large windows overlooking the garden and has a traditional looking wood burning stove and a mantelpiece. This is a very comfortable room with plenty of room for relaxing and entertaining.

The second floor has three bedrooms. The master bedroom has a fabulous view of the landscape around Loch Ness, and plenty of room for furnishings. Two further bedrooms have good views and ample space.

There is a family bathroom on this floor with a generously proportioned bath, with a shower over, and a ladder towel rail.

The upper floor and dog leg landings are spacious, with interesting features lending the house a great deal of interest and character.

The property is nicely decorated throughout in neutral colours that complement the natural wood finishes of the interior doors.

Outside there is a fenced area of well-managed and attractive garden with lawns and a paved area used as a patio. There is a timber shed and a wood store large enough to hold a substantial amount of fuel for the stove. A gate leads to the larger front garden and lawns which, again, have been carefully tended.

Given its location as one of the highly desirable parts of Inverness, and its proximity to the world-famous Loch Ness, this lovely property is welcoming and homely and will make a fabulous home for a family looking for a rural type setting, with all the benefits of village life and community, yet not too far from the City Centre and major services.

About Foyers

Foyers lies on the Eastern shore of the world-famous Loch Ness. The area is in a beautiful rural setting, yet still has ease of access to both Inverness City Centre, 18 miles away to the North, and Fort Augustus, 12 miles to the South, making it a prime commuting location.

The area is surrounded by woodland, cycle trails and walks. It is popular with visitors who come to hike, camp, explore the diverse wildlife found locally, and to visiting the two famous waterfalls. Although there are still spectacular views of Loch Ness, the area is notably quieter than the opposite shore.

The settlements around Foyers have arisen due to the extensive forestry in the area, along with the first large-scale hydro-electric scheme in the UK, established in 1969, following the closure of the British Aluminium Company in 1967.

Close to the General Wades Military road, which links Inverness and Fort Augustus, the village is a good stopping point for visitors wishing to discover a slightly less well-known route than the Great Glen Way.

The village of Foyers has a strong community. It has one primary school, a doctor, and village shops. Further services can be found in Inverness, as well as Fort Augustus.
