Homely, bright and beautifully done. We’d move in tomorrow.

This traditional, extended 1930s semi-detached home in Sheldon, east Birmingham, has been modernised by its current owners into a versatile family home of around 871 sq ft. A lounge sits to the front, with a large open-plan kitchen/dining room stretching across the back. Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a shower room. Outside you’ll find a driveway for two cars and a generous, level rear garden.

We asked them what made them buy it...

“The house felt homely from the moment we walked in. It was bright and filled with natural light, and the plot and layout sold it to us. The neighbours were so welcoming and friendly, and they still are. We have local shops and places to eat within walking distance. Bloom Café is a favourite, and The Crane is a family-friendly pub with seasonal events. We love Sheldon Country Park and Elmdon Park too. Nearby schools include Lyndon Green Infant and Junior Schools, St Thomas More Catholic Primary and Lode Heath secondary. And the A45 takes you to Solihull, Birmingham, Coventry and the motorway.”

What about the house itself?

“The thing i’ve never stopped loving is the space and layout downstairs. We renovated the kitchen and dining room, and going open plan has created so much more space. It’s where we spend most of our time because it’s open, spacious and peaceful. The garden is always the first thing guests comment on. It’s been all about summer entertaining and the children playing. We’ve also had a new boiler, new electrical sockets and light fittings, a new drive and garden, and we’ve plastered all downstairs. It feels peaceful and cosy inside. We’ll miss the space more than anything. This is a happy family home.”

Our agents say...

Character and convenience, all in one. The 1930s charm starts at the front, where walk-in bay windows give real presence to both the lounge and the main bedroom. Then the extension takes over. The kitchen/dining room has bi-fold doors opening straight onto the garden, which brings the outside in all year round. It’s beautifully presented throughout and ready to move into, so all that’s left is unpacking.

Outside, there are paved seating areas and an artificial lawn that stays green whatever the weather, and the driveway takes two cars.

As for the location, Sheldon Country Park is close by. It has the Old Rectory Farm and a viewing area at the end of the runway that keeps young plane spotters happy for hours. Birmingham Airport, the nec and Birmingham International station, with direct trains to London Euston, are all a short drive away. The M42 is easy to reach as well. Whether it’s your first home or your next step, get in touch today and come and see it for yourself.
