A pretty coastal cottage
Description
Hillview is a pretty and quaint cottage in the coastal village of Brancaster. With bright white render and sage green windows, under a clay pantile roof, the cottage is one that catches the eye.
This is a cosy cottage with plenty of charm. A brick and pantile porch leads into the staircase hall with a sitting room and dining room either side. The sitting room, south facing, has a woodburner to return to after bracing walks on the beach, whilst the dining room has an open fireplace and is located next conveniently next to the kitchen. The latter is a galley kitchen, with fitted cabinetry and a two oven Aga, in a distinctive mustard colour. For practicality, a utility room with Belfast sink is a useful space, with ground floor WC beyond.
Upstairs are three double bedrooms and a bathroom. The two front rooms are the most spacious, with relative for a cottage, with alcoves to host chest of drawers and wardrobes, with one of the bedrooms enjoying a built in wardrobe. A cute double bedroom at the back of the cottage has built in shelving, whilst the bathroom is well equipped, with shower over the bath.
The cottage has a delightful south facing courtyard garden, hidden behind a brick and flint wall and wooden gate. It is a complete suntrap, ideal for outside dining, entertaining and relaxing, and is entirely paved for ease of maintenance, with seasonal flowers including hollyhocks providing colour. There is a small outhouse to the side of the garden providing storage.
Location
Brancaster, situated on the famous Norfolk coastline, is a charming village with direct access to the coastal lifestyle. The village hosts arguably the best beach of Norfolk, well known for its wide expanse of sand, where many a happy childhood has been spent, and has become a destination for kite surfers. Running alongside the beach is the famous Royal West Norfolk Golf Club, a fine links course immersed within the coastline. Also within the village is The Ship public house, which is now run by the Michelin rated team of the Sculthorpe Mill, and a village stores and post office.
The coastline as a whole offers further beaches and golf courses, a delicatessen, village stores and popular public houses in nearby Thornham, together with Drove Orchards hosting a farm shop, Gurneys fish shop, and the famous Erics fish & chips, and Erics Pizza. Excellent sailing is from the neighbouring village of Brancaster Staithe, a village with further excellent pubs including the thriving White Horse, fish shop, cafes and village stores.
This stretch of coastline is renowned for superb bird watching, whilst Burnham Market is 7 miles from the house, with an array of boutique independent shops, bakery, butchers, fishmongers and restaurants including Socius and Number 29.
The local and historic market town of Kings Lynn is about 18 miles, with main line rail service to London Kings Cross.
