Description
Owls Clough brings together traditional bungalow character and thoughtful improvements, including new windows, a renewed kitchen and a contemporary bathroom. The kitchen and dining room opens into a garden room with bi-fold doors to the garden, while a separate living room centres on an open fireplace. Three bedrooms comprise two doubles and a single. Outside, the large plot includes established gardens, fruit trees, a vegetable garden and greenhouse, alongside a garage and parking for six or more cars. The plot and substantial loft also offer potential for further extension or additional accommodation, subject to the necessary permissions and confirmation of feasibility.
The living accommodation
The renewed kitchen combines classic panelled cabinetry with timber effect work surfaces, a built in double oven, integrated dishwasher and integrated washing machine, with a sink positioned beneath a broad window. Cupboards and drawers wrap around the cooking area, leaving a distinct space for dining within the same room. A wide opening connects this space to the garden room.
An open fireplace gives the separate living room its focal point, with a textured stone surround, substantial timber mantel and dark hearth introducing character and warmth. The curved bay window draws the frontage into the room, while ceiling coving adds a traditional finishing detail.
Opening directly from the kitchen and dining room, the garden room extends the living accommodation towards the garden. Broad bi-fold doors span much of the rear wall, framing the planting outside and opening onto the paved terrace.
A sheltered entrance leads into the hallway, which forms the central route through the bungalow. A useful cupboard provides space for coats and also gives access to the loft.
The bedrooms and bathroom
The primary bedroom occupies the front of the bungalow, where a curved bay window echoes the architectural character of the living room. A second window on the adjoining wall creates a dual aspect, while built-in wardrobes provide ample storage.
The second bedroom is another double, positioned towards the rear of the home with a broad window overlooking garden. Its straightforward shape allows flexibility in the arrangement of bedroom furniture, while ceiling coving gives the room a traditional finish. The third bedroom provides space for a single bedroom or home working, with a rear facing window bringing the garden into view.
The renewed bathroom features a walk in shower behind a clear glass screen, with a rainfall head and separate handheld attachment. Grey marble effect wall tiling is complemented by a wall hung WC, vanity basin and tall heated towel rail. A separate WC is also accessed from the hallway, providing an additional facility alongside the main bathroom.
The garden and parking
Immediately behind the garden room, a broad paved terrace creates a direct connection between the living accommodation and the garden. Established shrubs and flowering borders soften its edges, with hydrangeas bringing colour close to the home. Beyond, a substantial lawn is framed by mature trees and planting, with paths tracing the garden edges and linking its different areas.
Productive planting adds another dimension to the plot, with fruit trees, a vegetable growing area and a greenhouse supporting home cultivation. At the front, a further lawn, shrubs and a low brick wall frame the bungalow’s twin bays, creating an established setting that complements the more extensive garden behind.
The broad driveway provides parking for six or more cars and leads to a brick garage with an up and over door, while the recessed entrance provides a sheltered arrival beneath climbing greenery.
