Richard Oldfield MNAEA
Director, Head of Agency & Investment
Having started his own company at a young age, Richard has been working with local businesses for over 30 years. Richard’s background ensures that he understands the pressures of business development and gives rise to an obvious empathy with local companies seeking to grow. has developed an enviable reputation as a “deal maker”, accurately matching requirements with available properties. Our Clients value his unbiased and informed advice about the marketplace as well as his ability to secure the very best deals on their behalf. In addition to Agency, Richard also deals with business transfer and has successfully marketed a wide variety of businesses for sale in the Wealden area. Richard is a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agents and is one of a select few to have passed their specialist course in Commercial Estate Agency, earning his Certificate in Commercial and Business Transfer.
Bernard Smith FRICS
Director, Head of Professional Services
Bernard has an Honours degree in Estate management from the University of Reading and a post graduate Diploma in Arbitration from the College of Estate Management. He is a Fellow of the RICS, a Registered Valuer and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is also a corporate member of the Institute of Revenues, Rating and Valuation. Bernard is a frequent visitor to construction sites and holds a Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) certificate.
Sue Collett
Office Manager
Sue joined the practice in 2016 and has been working in the property industry for over 20 years. She brings to Oldfield Smith & Co the benefit of that experience and is able to communicate effectively with our clients. Sue handles the day to day running of the practice, client liaison, marketing and administration, providing support to our professional and technical staff when they are away from the office. She is also the first point of contact for most of our clients and visitors to the office. Sue has a great working knowledge of our available properties and is happy to provide details to new applicants.
Elizabeth Douglas-Smith
Financial Controller
Liz has been part of the team since Oldfield Smith & Co were founded in 2013, looking after the finances of the business. As the practice has grown, this has become a strategic role with a need to budget for our further expansion as well as manage income and expenditure. Liz has an Honours degree in Law from the University of Wolverhampton and has previously worked in the asset management department of a major Bank, where she gained a working knowledge of the property industry. Following this, Liz spent a number of years working with clients in the film and TV industry, including spells at the world famous Pinewood Studios and completing production accounts for several well known feature films. She has an extensive background in private practice, covering audit, VAT and general accounting. In addition to handling the corporate accounts for both Oldfield Smith & Co and our sister company OSAC Developments, she provides support to our management department in relation to the maintenance of our client accounts.
