Jackson-Stops was founded in 1910 when Hebert Jackson-Stops set up an auctioneer and valuer in Towcester; it came to prominence in 1921 with the sale of Stowe House, one of the greatest country house deals of the twentieth century. A London office and country house business followed, and the business had fully adopted a group format by 1992.
