Ben Pridden
Agency Director
Ben was brought up in Rutland and schooled at Ampleforth College. After a period in the music industry he joined a firm of estate agents in Chelsea. With 10 years selling houses in Central London he moved to Yorkshire in 2004, and took on the role of head of the Residential Agency Department at Savills in York. In 2020 Ben accepted the opportunity to set up Hewetson & Johnson’s Residential and Farm Agency Department. In his time in Yorkshire Ben has built up an extensive knowledge of the property market, and has sold some of the finest houses in the region. His enthusiasm and pragmatic approach has earnt him a loyal following of clients, and a reputation as one of the region’s most respected agents. Ben lives in a hamlet between the Howardian Hills and North York Moors with his wife and 3 children, not to mention numerous pets and an ever expanding collection of guinea fowl and bantams. Given the opportunity, he is often found fishing on the Rye, which runs past his house.
Edward Johnson MRICS
Director
Edward was born and brought up in East Yorkshire but has strong family roots in north Lancashire so counts himself as having a foot in both camps! He started his professional life based in South Cumbria, covering the Pennines and Lake and, up until starting Hewetson & Johnson in 2014, was employed as the Assistant Factor for Roxburghe Estates, a large and very diverse estate in the Scottish Borders. Edward now provides estate management services and strategic advice to landowners across the north of England, giving very concise and practical advice to his clients. His interest in forestry has led to him being the current secretary for the RFS Yorkshire Division. Edward lives just below Sutton Bank with his wife and young daughter. When not working or being the doting father, he is generally found outdoors with a rod or gun and his faithful hounds.
Ed Hewetson MRICS
Director
Ed was born in Cumbria and brought up in North Yorkshire, and has worked in Northumberland, Norfolk and latterly in North Yorkshire, providing advice to a range of private clients and institutions. He specialises in providing strategic solutions for client’s requirements, with a strong background in advising on succession planning on family estates, valuations and tax planning. Ed is recognised for his experience working in uplands management with a particular emphasis on sporting and conservation. Ed is Chairman of the John Strutt Conservation Foundation, a charitable, land owning, conservation and educational interest, covering Kirkby Stephen and South Cumbria. He is also Vice Chairman of the Cumbria Country Landowners Association. Ed is married with two young boys to keep him grounded. When not working or being with the family he can be found gardening, cooking or shooting
Mark Ludiman MRICS
Director
Mark was brought up a few miles from our Yorkshire Office and, after a stint working for the then Game Conservancy Trust, settled back in North Yorkshire working for a small local firm in Boroughbridge and then a national firm before moving to Hewetson & Johnson in2017. Mark has acted for a range of clients from landed estates to public bodies, including Network Rail and HS2. He specialises in all aspects of rural professional work and is well placed to service the requirements of the modern landowner, with extensive valuation, compulsory purchase and rural property experience. Mark lives in the same hamlet where he grew up with his wife and 2 children and has the joy of teaching them to fish in the same river where he learnt. When not fishing or spending time with the family, Mark is normally cycling or finding another reason to be outside.
