Property, Houses and Flats for Sale in Canary Wharf, East London

It's life at the top in Canary Wharf, often literally.

Living in Canary Wharf

Three of the UK's tallest buildings are situated in Canary Wharf offering amazing views of London and the meandering river. This prestigious area lies at the north end of the Isle of Dogs.

From Friday night to Monday morning, Canary Wharf is remarkably peaceful although it always retains its vibrancy. Most of the property for sale is in modern purpose built blocks, converted warehouses and waterfront developments, and deep pockets are usually required.

The Four Seasons hotel is part of Canary Riverside and is complemented by luxurious penthouses and apartments, sports and health clubs.

Canary Wharf has a good choice of shops, restaurants, wine bars, bistros and pubs that are situated in a shopping mall called Cabot Place comprising three arcades called Canada, Cabot and Jubilee Place.

The three arcades encircle Jubilee Park and Canary Wharf tube station and offer over 200 outlets that are open seven days a week. Within the arcades are sports and health clubs, Marks & Spencer, Waitrose, Banks, Building Societies and other well-known High Street chains.

The main ring road around the Isle of Dogs peninsula is peppered with riverside developments, some with splendid views of the Millennium Dome, across the river to the east and now called the O2.

Mudchute Park to the south in Cubitt Town provides a large green space for residents of Canary Wharf including playing fields and a farm comprising an Equestrian Centre, a café, a shop and lots of animals.

Transport

Canary Wharf enjoys excellent transport links with London Bridge just seven minutes away on the Jubilee Line and the West End fifteen minutes away.

Docklands Light Railway runs through the Isle of Dogs and provides residents with direct routes west to Bank, across the River Thames to Lewisham, and north to Stratford.

For information regarding bus routes that serve Canary Wharf and for DLR timetables please visit http://www.tfl.gov.uk/gettingaround/default.aspx

Stratford railway station, easily accessible by DLR, is run by National Express East Anglia trains, serving stations en route to Norwich.

Stratford International Station is part of the Eurostar Channel Tunnel Rail Link and is scheduled to open in 2009.

For details of train services throughout the UK please visit http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/

London City Airport lies east of Canary Wharf and can be reached via DLR. For information regarding flights please visit http://www.londoncityairport.com/

History and culture

Greenwich Foot Tunnel, at the southern end of the Isle of Dogs, was constructed under the River Thames in 1902 and leads to the Cutty Sark, (currently undergoing restoration), and the National Maritime Museum.

Of course, Docklands Light Railway is an easy alternative for crossing the river and visiting historic Greenwich and the Greenwich Theatre

The London Arena, south of Canary Wharf near the centre of the Isle of Dogs, is being replaced by residential developments. In its place, the O2, formerly The Dome, has become a successful venue hosting international music concerts, exhibitions, corporate events, and movies in its multi-screen cinema.

For full details regarding the O2 please visit http://www.theo2.co.uk/

There is also a multi-screen cinema in Canary Wharf.
