If you do not wish to drive, but wish to visit other areas, then there is a local bus stop nearby which offers a reliable, clean and very cheap service that can take you to all the places that may be of interest to you. Being located by the coastline, the area is flat with some lovely walks along the promenade to the marina and Amarilla Golf & Country Club, where you can stop and relax at one of the promenade restaurants or bars on the way. In the other direction, you can stroll along the seafront to the fishing village of Los Abrigos, where some of the restaurants have their own boats in the little harbour for supplying the freshest of fish to your plate. Have some wine to compliment your meal and you will find that this is a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon or evening, before strolling home again. Visit the main resort towns of Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, which are less than a 15-minute drive away and see all the razzmatazz before returning home to be thankful that you will sleep when you put your head on the pillow at night. In the other direction, take a few minutes drive to El Medano and the best natural yellow sand beach on the island. Walk along the beach and have a drink in one of the beachside cafes while you look at all the windsurfers strutting their stuff on the waves whilst practicing for the world windsurfing championships. Close to home if you want something a bit more adventurous, you could book some scuba diving lessons at the dive center, or if you think that is a bit energetic you could simply walk along the promenade to the marina and have a trip on the yellow submarine and see the underwater world the lazy way. Taking a boat excursion to see the whales and dolphins can be a rewarding experience and not that many people in the world will have the privilege of seeing whales in their natural habitat, so taking a camera is a must. If you want to stay away from the water but would like to try something different, then the horse riding stables are within easy distance and you could try your hand at that, play tennis on one of the courts at the club house or simply relax with a game of green bowls at Winter Gardens. Obviously, there are two championship golf courses on your doorstep if that is what you enjoy and you can tread where some of the greats of golf have won and lost when playing on the men s and women s pga tours.
