The picturesque mountain village of Collelongo nestles in the heart of the Vallelonga valley at 915 metres above sea level. It is in the Abruzzo National Park where some of the richest plant and animal species are found in Europe – an area that is great to explore.

Collegno has maintained, intact, the typical architecture made up of brick houses, tiny streets and wooden gates. So normal of small medieval centres and, displayed here, are boundary walls, town gates, the tower, the square and main church.

Ideal as a nature and sporting destination, Collelongo promotes the area though many outside activities. These include mountain bike and foot trails, Alpine and Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, horse trekking and sport climbing. Lots to enjoy.

With a population of nearly 1,200 there is a supermarket, butcher, newsagent, baker, post office and bank. Each Tuesday morning there is a market selling local produce, after which, an aperitivo with the friendly locals and lunch at one of the village restaurants is recommended.
