Vendors comments: The property was bought after our late mother passed away and our father lived alone in Essex but did not live close to either of his children. He was 83 and had limited movement, but using his mobility walker gave him his independence. As a family, we decided it was best to move him closer to one of his children so finding the right property was really important as we wanted our father to retain his independence in the knowledge he would be happy, safe and well looked after.

When we visited Wimbledon Beaumont for the first time, we immediately fell in love with both the building and staff and we were made to feel welcome. The daily activities (keep fit, arts and craft, quizzes, games etc) as well as the excellent facilities such as an award-winning chef, makes it more akin to a hotel feel than a care home. Wimbledon Beaumont is divided into two blocks; one being independent living flats and the other is the care home.

The flat we would like to sell (as our father sadly passed away in August 2020) is unique in that it is an independent living flat within the care home building. This allows for easy access to all the care, activities and facilities your relative requires, which was an advantage for Dad as he did not have to keep going backwards and forwards between the two buildings, particularly during winter which was more challenging. This gave him his independence but importantly, gave us peace of mind as a family knowing he would be looked after.

As a resident, you have the ability to buy additional services depending on individual needs. As an example, Dad paid to have a hot lunch in the care home each day, but made his own breakfast in the comfort of his own flat and at his own leisure. We deliberately chose a flat without a kitchen as we knew Dad would be safe as he couldn't prepare hot food.We also paid for additional care each day, which is assessed on individual needs. We wanted the nurses to go in three times a day to give Dad his medication, and to help him shower. Additional facilities such as hairdressing, laundry and chiropody are also available to make life easier. Wimbledon Beaumont has its own mini-bus, and pre-Covid, Dad would enjoy his weekly trip to the local Tesco.

The price you pay also includes maintenance and for a monthly fee, your relative can also access a 24 hour emergency call system. Who would benefit from this property – we think someone just like our Dad. Someone who wants to live on their own but who now and again needs some extra support, which gives the family the peace of mind knowing your loved one is being looked after.

Beech Court is part of the larger Retirement development of Wimbledon, which includes care facilities. Each apartment is free from the hassle of home maintenance and has the added peace of mind that is offered from a 24 hour emergency call system. There is also a variety of optional services provided by the care home, including personal care, catering, laundry, household cleaning and the opportunity to enjoy the social activities and events in the community.
