In the heart of the picturesque village of Caramanico Terme stands the ancient DeDominicis palace, also known as Casa De Dominicis. This elegant noble building, dating back to 1600, houses a magnificent garden and a private chapel, elements that enhance its charm and historicity.
The property is spread over three levels, including cellars and store rooms, characterized by vaulted ceilings in Maiella stone, which preserve its authentic character. On the first floor, in addition to the private chapel, there is the atelier of the sculptor Nicola DAntino, a large porch, a living room with fireplace and frescoed ceiling, the kitchen, a dining room-study, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The top floor, on the other hand, there are three bedrooms, two studies, a bathroom and a panoramic terrace with spectacular views.
Casa De Dominicis stands out on the horizon, to those who climb towards Caramanico and its renowned spa, thanks to its majestic covered loggia, which is long and imposing, characterized by nine arches that open towards the Orfento valley. From here you can admire an endless landscape, which extends between the surrounding countryside and the heights until you reach the majestic view of the Gran Sasso.
This ancient property preserves intact the materials and traces of time, the vaulted ceilings of the rooms; the staircases endorsed and worn out by steps, the old fireplaces, the wooden doors hand-cut by artisans of the time, the ceiling of the hall characterized by frescoes, the door that adorns the façade. All things that give this palace the charm and exclusive prestige of echoes of a nostalgic past, such as the cheerful atmosphere of the joys experienced and the noise of the holidays.
Caramanico Terme, defined as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, is an accessible and child-friendly village, where you can rediscover the pleasure of slowing down, escaping from the frenzy of working life, and where you can find everything: Bars, restaurants, pizzerias, supermarket, shops, banks, post office, pharmacy, etc.
Palazzo De Dominicis, an enveloping living space that evokes shades of the past, giving a feeling of harmony and tranquility, is a property suitable both for living and for a B&B or other accommodation facility.
Caramanico terme - pescara province
Caramanico is located in the Majella National Park and is home to the best-known thermal spa in Abruzzo. Located at 650 metres above sea level, its origins date back to the Early Middle Ages when it was built as a military settlement. Later in Caramanicos history it began to focus on the presence of its healing waters and it became officially known as Caramanico Terme in 1960. The spas are renowned for their high sulphur content and have been treating people for a range of ailments over the past 400 years.
It is the largest town in the area and has a thriving community. During the summer months there are all kinds of events, such as concerts, open-air music and cinema. The shops are even open on a Sunday, which is very rare in Abruzzo!
Nature too is important, and the Majella National Park contains about 500 kilometres of hiking trails through the mountains. There are cave paintings in Grotta SantAngelo and Grotta del Cavallone, the latter being one of the deepest caves in Europe, open to the public. Guided excursions to the nearby Orfento Reserve, National Park of Majella and the Lama Bianca Reserve are also organised.
Caramanico Terme is also included in the prestigious list of the Most beautiful Italian boroughs and the town has shops, chemist, post office and bank. The hotels, restaurants and bars are a great place to meet and chat to the locals.
