Some information about Casarabonela:

Casarabonela lies about 500m above sea-level at the end of the mountain range starting at Malaga. Its origin is prehistoric, however, first evidence goes back to Roman times – parts of the Roman causeway Ronda/Malaga can still be seen; the village was then named Castra – Vinaria.

Casarabonela has Islamic roots and shows Arabian and Christian influences. Ruins of the Medieval Castle and the Moorish part of the village with its narrow, winding and steep streets and low raised houses, together with its fountains providing cool mountain water and beautiful squares, bear witness to that.

After the 15th century, the village was known as Casarabonela and up to now rated as very pretty nested in the mountains from where you have unforgettable views of the Valle Guadalhorce down to Malaga and the sea.
