In addition to its central location, it has shopping areas and good access to the capital via the 25 April Bridge, the Sul do Tejo metro - an environmentally-friendly electric transport system with three routes, and 19 stops with connections to other public transport services - shopping areas, the university and more densely populated areas, the Fertagus railway and the Transtejo ferries with two routes to Lisbon: Cacilhas - Cais do Sodré and Trafaria - Porto Brandão - Belém.
