Pescina - l-aquila province

Pescina is built partly in the Fucino plain and partly on a rocky ridge on the left bank of the Giovenco River. It is at an altitude of 735 metres and forms part of the mountain community ‘Valle del Giovenco-.

Originally there was an ancient settlement, as evidenced by the presence of megalithic walls. The town came to prominence in the medieval period and although now destroyed there are still ruins of the tower and ancient fortification which overlook the village.

The Pescina spinning mill, situated along the river, is characteristic and of particular interest as many local farmers took their wool there to make yarn.

The town has plenty of facilities which are accessed by the 4,098 inhabitants. These include supermarket, shops, pharmacy, doctor, post office, bank, restaurants and bars.
