Well-designed for modern living with a mixture of house types to suit first time buyers, professionals, couples, families and those wishing to downsize, there really is something for everyone at The Fairways.

Named ‘The Fairways' because of its location on an old golf club, this development has stunning countryside, walks and adventures right on your doorstep. Situated to the west of Standish The Fairways is conveniently located between the towns of Wigan and Chorley, which are only a short drive away and provide a large range of shops and amenities. Standish itself is a bustling village; home to St Wilfred's Church, the only Grade I listed building in the borough. The old stocks are also still in situ in the village at Market Square (rogues beware).

The Fairways offers great days out nearby

A short drive away, Mesnes Park in Wigan is described as “A jewel nestled on the edge of Wigan town centre.” A great family day out, it's also home to Ernest Gillick's statue of Sir Francis Powell. It's said that rubbing the foot of this statue will bring you good luck… Another local day out can be enjoyed at Haigh Hall Country Park. Spanning hundreds of acres and including shops and cafeteria, it's a fabulous place to while away some restful hours with family and friends.

The area is also rich in history with the town of Wigan and its Pier made famous by the author George Orwell who compiled his investigation on working class life for his book, The Road to Wigan Pier. More recently, The Heritage Lottery Fund helped rescue and restore the Trencherfield Mill Steam Engine, which is more that 100 years old and powered the cotton spinning mill, which is located on the Leeds and Liverpool canal.

Keen golfers among you will be relieved to know that the old golf course on which The Fairways is built has been superseded by further excellent golfing facilities close by. Wigan Golf Club is a delightful, yet challenging, 18-hole parkland course only 1.7 miles away, and Gathurst Golf Club, which boasts panoramic views at almost every hole, is just 3.4 miles.
