Outdoor activities
Fullwood Gardens is well situated for escaping into the Lanarkshire countryside, and has several parks and open green spaces in easy reach. Just over three miles from the development, the superb Strathclyde Country Park offers an enormous variety of activities, from leisurely walking, cycling or horse riding through 400 hectares of delightful landscapes, enjoying the changing views, to sailing on Strathclyde Loch. There are facilities for rowing, windsurfing, canoeing, angling and water-skiing, and the Park has football pitches, jogging tracks and orienteering courses. The terrain includes a Roman fort and an historic towerhouse as well as a diversity of wildlife habitats. It is also the location for several major events such as international races, exhibitions and fairs. In addition, Strathclyde Country Park is the site of the huge M&d’s theme park, with its white-knuckle rides and indoor tropical rainforest.

Transport

Fullwood Gardens is conveniently situated for both the M74 and the M8, making it a excellent base for travel throughout the central belt as well as to the centre of Glasgow. There are nearby train stations at Holytown and Carfin, both on the main line between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central Station, and Motherwell Station has direct links with Cumbernauld and Lanark as well as Glasgow. There is a bus station in Motherwell, giving access to a wide network of local and national routes, and both Edinburgh and Glasgow airports are around 29 and 26 miles respectively.

There is a convenient gp surgery in Carfin Road, around two miles from Fullwood Gardens, and a larger medical centre in Motherwell High Street. There are also several dentists nearby.

Also in Bellshill the superb Sir Matt Busby Sports Complex offers a comprehensive range of indoor and outdoor facilities designed for all levels of ability and dedication, including a 25m swimming pool, a separate teaching pool, a gym with weight and cardiovascular equipment, a sauna, steam room and plunge pool, and a sports hall. Lanarkshire Ice Rink, one of Scotland’s premier curling, skating and ice hockey venues and Aquatec in Motherwell with leisure pool, tyre ride and outdoor lagoon are also within a short drive of the development.

Leave Glasgow by the M8 motorway, following signs for
Edinburgh, and carry straight on into the A8. Around five and
a half miles after the end of the motorway and the start of
the A8, turn left to leave the A8 at Chapelhall Junction, branch left, then at t-junction turn right onto Woodhall Mill
Road (B802) signposted Newhouse, Chapelhall, Holytown.
Turn right onto Bo'ness Road (B799), at roundabout take the
2nd exit onto Bo'ness Road (B799). At the roundabout take
the 3rd exit onto the A775 signposted Holytown, Bellshill. At
the traffic signals turn left onto Stevenston Street (B799)
signposted New Stevenston. Arrive on Stevenston Street
where Fullwood Gardens is located on the right hand side.
