There are no additional Biodiversity Net Gain requirements as the self-build application was submitted before 6th August and the site is exempt from mandatory bng, removing a cost and a layer of complexity that many competing plots now carry.

Importantly there is also no local connection requirement, therefore the opportunity is open to any self-builder on the Council's Self Build Register.

The Tree Officer confirmed construction is feasible subject to tree protection measures, and the ecology survey found negligible potential for most protected species.

In terms of location Puriton is one of the ever popular and well served Polden Villages. Collectively the Polden Villages play host to shops, a cafe, a beauty salon, hairdressing salons, a butcher, gym, pub, sports centre, veterinary surgery and at Shapwick there is the popular cricket pavilion with views of Glastonbury Tor.

There are also numerous Primary Schools across the villages and one particularly close, just off Puriton Hill itself.
