About this property

Hyndland has long been one of Glasgow’s most popular neighbourhoods, and Dudley Drive is a particularly good spot within it. Leafy, residential and tucked away, yet with Hyndland Road, Clarence Drive and an excellent collection of cafés, restaurants and independent shops all within easy walking distance. Hyndland railway station is also close by, providing regular connections into the City Centre and beyond.

Set on the third floor of a red sandstone tenement, 3/1,10 Dudley Drive is a beautifully presented one-bedroom flat which has been home to the current owners for the past seven years. When asked what they have enjoyed most about living here, their answer was simple: “It feels very calming and relaxed. It is in a great area close to everything.” Having spent time in the flat, that description feels particularly apt.

The accommodation is surprisingly generous for a one-bedroom property and has a really comfortable flow. At the front, the living room is a lovely space, with a broad bay window bringing in plenty of natural light and providing a leafy outlook. The owners have introduced a new mantelpiece and the room, like much of the flat, has been carefully redecorated during their ownership.

To the rear is a good sized dining kitchen, large enough for a proper dining table. The room feels bright, practical and sociable, with a separate utility area.

The double bedroom is well proportioned, while the bathroom has a full-size bath with shower above. There is excellent storage throughout the flat, but one of the cleverest additions is the conversion of a former cupboard into a dedicated work-from-home, study and sewing nook. It is neatly tucked away from the principal rooms and makes excellent use of a space that might otherwise have remained ordinary storage.

For us, the real appeal is the combination of the flat and its setting. Hyndland manages that increasingly difficult trick of feeling properly residential while having almost everything you need close at hand. You can walk to the station, wander down to Hyndland Road or Clarence Drive for coffee or dinner, and still come home to somewhere that feels remarkably calm and removed from it all.
