Prospect Mills was constructed in 1884, during the peak of the region’s textile boom. The mill was designed as a multi-storey stone built spinning facility under a traditional pitched slated roof. The mill was famously owned and operated by Abraham Ambler (Ambler & Sons), one of Wilsden’s most influential industrial entrepreneurs. Ambles legacy is woven tightly into the village fabric as he constructed neighbouring workers terraces on Royd Street, and his family estate Royd House was later gifted to the community to form part of Wilsden Park.
Today, Prospect Mills is recognised as a non-designated heritage asset under the Wilsden Neighbourhood Plan and stands a key asset within the protected Wilsden Conservation Area.
