The spectacular vaulted sitting room is the home's defining feature. Beneath soaring original timber trusses, this breathtaking space is flooded with natural light and centred around a striking wood-burning fireplace, creating the perfect setting for both relaxed family evenings and memorable entertaining.
At the heart of the home, the magnificent 31ft kitchen and breakfast room has been designed for modern living, with a substantial central island, bespoke cabinetry and generous dining space. An elegant drawing room, welcoming family room and additional reception areas provide outstanding versatility, while a utility room, pantry and cloakroom enhance everyday convenience.
Upstairs, four beautifully proportioned double bedrooms include a luxurious principal suite with peaceful countryside views and a stylish en-suite. Three further bedrooms, beautifully appointed bathrooms and a spacious library complete a thoughtfully arranged first floor ideal for family life and home working.

Set within approximately 7 acres of beautifully established gardens and grounds, The Granary enjoys exceptional privacy within the breathtaking Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Designed for year-round enjoyment, the gardens feature a superb covered outdoor kitchen and dining area for effortless al fresco entertaining, alongside a luxurious hot tub overlooking the grounds. A large ornamental pond, mature trees, expansive lawns and open paddock-style land create a tranquil setting for wildlife, recreation and family enjoyment. Completing the estate are substantial garages, workshops, a dedicated gym with sauna, versatile barn accommodation and extensive private parking.
Location
The Granary enjoys an idyllic position in the highly sought-after village of Llanishen, surrounded by the rolling hills and ancient woodland of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This thriving rural community offers a village hall, church and the popular Carpenter’s Arms, while nearby Monmouth and Chepstow provide an excellent choice of independent shops, restaurants, supermarkets and highly regarded schools.
Despite its tranquil setting, the property is exceptionally well connected, with Cardiff and Bristol within comfortable commuting distance and Bristol Parkway offering fast rail services to London. The surrounding countryside provides superb walking, cycling and riding, while the Michelin-starred Whitebrook restaurant is just moments away.
Vendor Insight
From the moment we first arrived a t The Granary, it was the sense of calm, space and openness that drew us in. We loved the architecture and the way the house has been developed so sympathetically, creating a home that feels both beautifully considered and wonderfully relaxed. There is a real sense of arrival here, and we have always loved coming home after being away.
The Cathedral Barn is perhaps the most breathtaking feature. Its scale and character make it an extraordinary space for entertaining, while the mezzanine has become a favourite family spot, whether we are playing pool at Christmas or simply relaxing with a cocktail. We have celebrated birthdays, hosted cocktail parties and enjoyed huge family Christmases here, with the wood burners going and everyone gathered around the large dining table. It is a truly unique space that our family and friends have loved.
In warmer weather, we spend much of our time outside, particularly around the outdoor kitchen, where the views across the valley are wonderful. The garden is surprisingly easy to maintain, with Mediterranean-inspired planting, shrubs, perennials and olive trees creating a sense of privacy and softness, while the field beyond gives uninterrupted views towards the horizon.
We have made a number of improvements during our time here, including adding electricity to the barn, repairing its windows and doors, rebuilding a collapsed wall and installing secure gates, an intercom and comprehensive security cameras.
We had every intention of staying, but life brings unexpected opportunities. We will miss the house, our lovely neighbours and this remarkable location, with easy access to Tintern, the Wye Valley, the Forest of Dean, the Black Mountains and the market towns of Monmouth and Abergavenny.
