Hidden valleys, ridge walks and exceptional views across the Beacons are all within easy reach, while the Black Mountains provide further opportunities for exploration, including horse riding. The Mynydd Epynt bike trails are on the doorstep, while canoeing, hang gliding and, for the more adventurous, caving can all be enjoyed nearby. The region is also home to a rich cultural calendar, with the Hay Festival at its heart. The Walnut Tree and Chapters are both highly recommended. Closer to home, the Beacon Jazz Festival takes place each August, as well as Green Man Festival which is 20-minutes away.

A farmers’ and makers’ market takes place in Brecon on the second Saturday of every month. Hay-on-Wye has a fishmonger, butcher and deli, alongside supermarkets nearby for everyday essentials.

There are also excellent schooling options in the area, including the independent Christ College, Ysgol Gynradd Iolo Morganwg for primary-aged children, and Brecon High School or Gwernyfed High School for secondary education.
