This beautifully presented two-bedroom end-of-terrace home offers plenty of period character alongside stylish modern touches. The ground floor provides an open-plan living room and dining room with traditional sash windows at the front and rear which creates a sociable living space flooded by natural light. Original wooden flooring in the living room, alongside the original fireplace, decorative wall panelling and ceiling roses add character, while tiled flooring in the dining area give the home a fresh, modern feel. Recently added built in cupboards, alongside a generous under-stairs cupboard provide plenty of storage. The kitchen is finished with white cabinetry, oak worktops, a herringbone-tiled splashback and integrated gas hob and electric oven. A skylight brings in plenty of natural light, while the side door leads straight onto the garden. Leading from the kitchen is a versatile office or boot room with sliding doors open directly onto the garden - ideal for working from home, storing coats and shoes, or entertaining and enjoying the warmer months. Upstairs, the first floor compromises of a generous double bedroom with attractive period fireplace, traditional sash window and painted original wooden flooring. The decorative ceiling rose and wooden panelling also add extra character. The modern bathroom adds a contemporary feel whilst also maintaining a beautiful and unique 1930s stained-glass window, adding a distinctive period touch. The second floor has been converted in the master bedroom with additional storage in the eaves. The Velux window skylight and large sliding doors onto the balcony flood the room with natural light. Access to the unique private balcony offers views over the surrounding gardens and provides a unique and peaceful spot to sit, relax and enjoy the evening sunset. Outside, the small front garden has been gravelled for ease of maintenance and is enclosed by a mature hedge, providing privacy as well as a practical area for bins and storage. The south-facing rear garden has been designed with low maintenance in mind, featuring a gravel pathway and established greenery while still providing space for outdoor seating. A lovely private spot for enjoying the garden, entertaining or simply relaxing in the sunshine. Combining original period features, thoughtfully updated modern interior design, and generous and versatile living accommodation, this charming home offers character, practicality and a wonderfully homely feel.
Through the Eyes of an Owner
No one knows a home quite like the person who has lived there. Here, the current owner shares what first drew them to the property and what they have loved most about calling it home.
“What originally drew me to the house was its beautiful character and all the little details that make it feel so special-the fireplaces, sash windows and, of course, the stained-glass window. It’s pretty cool to be able to say you have a stained-glass window in your own home!
When I first viewed the property, I immediately fell in love with how warm, homely and cosy it felt, while still being incredibly light and airy. The house enjoys so much natural light, which creates a lovely atmosphere throughout.
My dream home has always been a cottage-style property, although I was initially nervous about the maintenance that can come with an older house. This home offers the perfect balance. It has all the charm and character you would hope for, but it has also been thoughtfully extended and altered over the years, creating much larger and more practical rooms than you might expect.
I previously lived in a three-bedroom terraced house, yet this property actually offers more living space. The bedrooms are particularly generous, and the additional office space has been incredibly useful.
Another real advantage is having the bathroom on the first floor rather than downstairs, as you often find in properties of this age. It was completely renovated in 2022 and is now a beautiful, modern space.
The garden is relatively low maintenance but still feels like a proper garden-somewhere you can sit outside, entertain and enjoy the sunshine without it becoming a constant job to look after.
Then there’s the balcony, which is definitely one of my favourite features. Having a balcony directly from the main bedroom is such a novelty and not something you would necessarily expect to find in a home like this. On warm summer days, it has been the perfect place for sunbathing, and we have spent many evenings eating dinner there while watching the sunset.
The location has been fantastic too. The Co-op and Willingham’s cafés, pubs, park, library and other village amenities are all within walking distance, making everyday life really convenient. Being opposite a bakery is wonderful-although slightly dangerous for the waistline!
Despite being so close to everything, it’s really peaceful. If you listen carefully, you can hear the church bells ringing. It’s one of those lovely little details that adds to the charm of the village and makes living here feel particularly special.”

Location
Willingham is a well-established village in South Cambridgeshire, situated around 12 miles northwest of Cambridge. Surrounded by open Fenland countryside, it offers a relaxed village setting while remaining within easy reach of Cambridge, St Ives, Northstowe and the wider A14 corridor.
The village has a strong sense of community and provides a good range of everyday amenities. These include local shops, a post office, medical facilities, a library, cafés, pubs and places to eat. Willingham Primary School is located within the village, while a variety of secondary schools and further education options can be found in the surrounding area. Recreation grounds, play areas and sports clubs also provide plenty of opportunities for families and residents of all ages to get involved in village life.
Willingham has retained much of its traditional character, with a mixture of attractive period homes, established residential streets and more modern developments. At its heart are a number of historic buildings, including the Grade I listed Church of St Mary and All Saints, which dates largely from the 14th century. The village’s position on the edge of the Fens has played an important part in its history and continues to shape the surrounding landscape today.
For those who enjoy spending time outdoors, the countryside around Willingham provides plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling and exploring nearby villages. The village has several green spaces, including recreation grounds, a community orchard and the qeii Field. Local sports and activity groups add to the community feel, with football, cricket, bowls, scouting and other clubs available in and around the village.
Despite its countryside setting, Willingham is well placed for commuters. Road connections provide access to Cambridge, Huntingdon and St Ives, with the A14 offering onward travel to the region’s major employment centres. Longstanton Park & Ride and the Cambridgeshire Guided Busway are also nearby, providing regular connections into Cambridge and towards St Ives. Local bus services connect Willingham with Longstanton, Bar Hill, Over and surrounding villages.
The nearby town of Northstowe provides further facilities, while Bar Hill offers a large supermarket and additional shopping. Cambridge city centre is within comfortable travelling distance and provides an extensive choice of shops, restaurants, cultural attractions and employment opportunities. St Ives, with its riverside setting, independent shops and regular markets, is also easily accessible.
Willingham is particularly well suited to buyers who want the space and community atmosphere of village life without feeling cut off from larger towns and the city. Its combination of local amenities, countryside, historic character and practical transport connections makes it an appealing place for families, professionals and those looking for a quieter pace of life within reach of Cambridge.
