Some houses feel generous before you've even reached the first room. This is one of them.

Step through the front door and the hallway opens up around you, with a sweeping staircase and a real sense of space. It feels like a proper entrance to a family home, but more importantly, it gives you a glimpse of how the rest of the house works. Nothing here feels squeezed in.

There are different places for different parts of the day. The living room is where you can properly switch off, brightened by windows on two sides with doors opening straight onto the garden. In summer, leave them open and the garden simply becomes part of the room.

The kitchen has its own rhythm. There is plenty of room to cook, but just alongside is a separate family room, so whoever is making dinner doesn't disappear from everyone else. It is easy to picture breakfast here in the morning, children doing homework nearby, or friends sitting with a drink while something cooks. The utility room beyond keeps washing, muddy shoes and the less photogenic bits of family life out of the way.

Then there are the spaces you appreciate when the house is full. A proper dining room at the front gives you room for everyone around one table, rather than borrowing a corner of the kitchen when family comes over.

And working from home has been properly thought about too. The downstairs office isn't a bedroom with a desk pushed against the wall. It has fitted cabinetry, storage and a long workspace beneath the windows, giving you somewhere you can shut the door in the morning and actually go to work.

There is another possibility outside. The detached double garage has been boarded internally and fitted with lighting, making it far more adaptable than a conventional garage. For someone running a business from home, it could become a substantial office or workspace away from the main house. Equally, it could lend itself to a studio, gym or hobby room, subject of course to any necessary permissions. Combined with the existing office inside, there is unusual flexibility here for a household where more than one person works from home.

Upstairs, the space continues. Five bedrooms means five rooms you can genuinely use, rather than one being there simply to make up the numbers. The main bedroom has fitted wardrobes and its own en-suite, a second bedroom has another en-suite, and several bedrooms have built-in storage. The family bathroom has both a bath and separate shower, which is one of those small things that makes busy mornings easier.

Outside, the garden feels just about right. Enough lawn for children to play, established borders giving it colour and privacy, and paved areas for tables and chairs. Enough room for everyone to come over for a summer afternoon, without creating a garden that asks for every spare weekend in return.

The driveway is similarly generous, with plenty of parking and an EV charger. Solar panels were installed approximately two years ago, while the boiler is also around two years old.

Then, when you do leave the house, you have Trentham around you. Trentham Gardens, the golf course and padel courts are close by, alongside local schools, shops and places to eat. Road connections towards Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme and further afield are straightforward too.

Perhaps the nicest thing about this home is that people can be doing completely different things without ever feeling disconnected. Someone working quietly in the office. Someone cooking while everyone gathers in the family room. Children upstairs. Friends around the dining table. Doors open and people wandering in and out of the garden.

There is space here for the busy days and the quieter ones. And after years of family life within these walls, that sense of having room for everyone may well be the hardest thing to leave behind
