    Description

    The River Barle rises on 'The Chains' on Exmoor. From there the river flows south and east to Simonsbath and Withypool collecting additional flow from other tributaries. From Withypool the river flows through to Dulverton again picking up further flow on the way. The river then passes through the fishing rights for sale in this brochure and then joins the River Exe at Exebridge.

    Fishing Rights

    These comprise an attractive and varied beat of approximately 195 metres of single bank fishing. The extent of the fishing is shown on the attached plan. The single bank beat extends for 195 metres on the north eastern bank of the River Barle straddling the well-known Beasley Salmon trap/Weir, just on the edge of Dulverton. Access is on foot from the end of Milham Lane across the fields running south, and also from Newbridge, Brushford

    Quarry Species

    The beat is principally a salmon and brown trout fishery with the occasional sea trout.

    Bye Laws

    The rod fishery is regulated by a series of byelaws, some longstanding, some more recently introduced and some time limited. A brief summary is as follows:
    Seasons

    Salmon: 14 February to 30 September.
    Sea Trout and Brown Trout: 15 March to 30 September.

    Directions

    From Tiverton take the A396 towards Bampton. At Black Cat continue on the A396 towards Exebridge and Dulverton. After 3 miles turn left towards Exebridge. Pass the Anchor Inn on the left, continue over the bridge and follow the road through Brushford. The fishing rights are situated just off the B3222 immediately before entering Battleton.
