Four reception rooms including an open plan lounge/kitchen/ dinning area.
Electric gates, large driveway with a detached double garage
Popular residential location within easy reach of Pershore (market town) & Worcester City
Built in 2019, Highfield is a substantial five-bedroom detached home offering approximately 2,583 sq ft of beautifully proportioned accommodation in the popular Worcestershire village of Drakes Broughton.
There is a lot to like about this house, but what stood out to me is just how easy it would be to live here. It has the space and proportions you would expect from a much older country home, but with all the comfort, efficiency and practicality that comes with something built only seven years ago.
You arrive through electric gates onto a generous driveway, with plenty of parking and a detached double garage. It immediately feels private and substantial, without feeling overly formal.
Inside, the layout has clearly been designed around family life. At the heart of the house is a brilliant open-plan kitchen, dining and family room. It is a proper everyday space, somewhere that works for breakfast on a Monday morning just as well as it does with a house full of people on a Saturday night.
What I particularly like is that the open-plan space hasn’t come at the expense of having somewhere to escape to. There is a separate sitting room, an additional snug and a dedicated home office, so you can have people doing completely different things in different parts of the house without everyone being on top of each other. There is also a separate utility room and downstairs cloakroom, which are the sort of practical details that make a big family house actually work.
Upstairs there are five bedrooms and three bathrooms, including two en-suites. The fifth bedroom is currently being used as a dressing room, but it gives the next owner plenty of flexibility depending on how they want to use the space.
And while exceeding 2,500 sq ft is a lot of house, Highfield is surprisingly efficient for its size. It has an excellent EPC rating of B, solar panels and underfloor heating. With the cost of running a larger home becoming increasingly important, I think that is a genuine selling point here. You get the space without some of the compromises that can come with owning a much older property of a similar size.
Outside, the rear garden is landscaped, private and manageable. There is enough space for children, entertaining and enjoying the summer without buying something that requires every weekend of the year to look after. Combined with the double garage, large driveway and gated entrance, it feels like someone has thought about how the whole property needs to work rather than simply concentrating on the house itself.
Drakes Broughton gives you village life without leaving you miles from everything. Pershore is only a few miles away, Worcester is around seven miles away and Worcestershire Parkway is approximately three miles from the village, providing excellent rail connections towards Worcester, Birmingham, Oxford and London Paddington. Junction 7 of the M5 is also within easy reach, making Birmingham, Cheltenham, Gloucester and the wider Midlands straightforward to access.
For families, Drakes Broughton has St Barnabas C of E First & Middle School within the village, with pupils able to continue their education at Pershore High School. There is also pre-school provision, a village shop, pubs, fish and chip shop, church, village hall and recreation ground, so this is a proper working village rather than somewhere you need to get in the car every time you need something.
Pershore is just down the road and is one of my favourite Worcestershire market towns, with its independent shops and cafés, supermarkets, restaurants, leisure facilities, Pershore Abbey and Abbey Park, while Worcester provides everything you would expect from a city within an easy drive.
For me, Highfield gets the balance right. It is big without being ridiculous, modern without feeling soulless and rural without being isolated. You have five bedrooms, three bathrooms, several reception spaces, a proper home office, around 2,500 sq ft, a double garage, electric gates, solar panels and an EPC rating of B, all in a village where schools, transport links and everyday amenities are genuinely close at hand.
