An Extended Four Bedroom Detached Family Home On The Cranbrook Estate In Furze Platt

The sellers view....

We’ve lived on the Cranbrook Drive estate since we were married nearly 30 years ago. We started in a 2 bed mid-terrace and moved around the corner to a 3-bed semi when the children were born. As they were growing up, we thought a larger property would be preferable, but on the same estate.

We found number 10, Avondale perfect for our needs: It has both Furze Platt junior and Senior schools literally 5 minutes’ walk away. Access to the M40 and M4 motorways is just a few minutes’ drive. Trains are equally near: Furze Platt station, a 20-minute walk away, provides access to both the Elizabeth Line and gwr main lines from Maidenhead Train Station. Maidenhead station is only 1.4 miles away, so easily within walking distance, although parking in the town is also available for cars.

There are plenty of local shops within a 5 minutes’ walk, in addition to the main supermarkets in Maidenhead town itself. Another feature we liked is access to the country side. As dog owners this was important for walks; we can enjoy the local scenery just on the doorstep.

Furze Platt, which sits on a hill amongst National Trust and farm land also has the villages of Cookham, Bourne End and Marlow close by too. These too can be reached via the Furze Platt train line, or via a short car journey. The scenery through which the train passes when travelling towards those villages is stunning.

The neighbourhood immediately surrounding number 10 is quiet and peaceful. The neighbours are welcoming and respectful of each other and it’s a great place for children too. It’s off the main Cranbrook Drive Road, in a quiet cul-de-sac. Gardens are well maintained, with lots of trees and bushes to enhance the area. It really is a lovely place to live.

What we love about the property is its size. It was extended towards the front and rear some years ago. Each of the rooms is large and spacious with good sunlight. We don’t feel constricted in size and the children have had plenty of space to grow and have friends over to stay. We’ve had some lovely times in the house, with seasonal, national and other family milestones celebrated.

When we moved in, we completely redecorated each room, installed a new combi-boiler, main bathroom, and a log burner in the sitting room to replace the original fireplace. The kitchen boasted solid granite worktops and good quality cabinetry, so we felt no need to replace them: They’ve served us well over the years. In the garden we installed a corner summer house, and a high spec rc double garage door.

With our children now grown, it is time for us to move on to a new chapter in our lives, and for someone else to enjoy the house we have loved and make it their own too.
