Location

The name Londonthorpe derives from the Old Scandinavian lundr and thorp, meaning an ‘outlying farmstead or hamlet by a grove’. It is a small village lying 3 miles to the north east of Grantham and close to Belton Park. Originally part of Lord Brownlow’s famous Belton House Estate – Belton House now owned by the National Trust and open to the public - which explains the number of attractive stone properties forming much of the village.

Westley's close proximity to Grantham with its fast rail link to London Kings Cross (journey time of approximately one hour) makes this a very attractive property for commuting, but equally, offers plenty of scope for working from home. Being so near to the A1 there is also easy access to Newark (25 mins), Stamford (30 mins), Peterborough (40 mins) and - along the A52 - Nottingham (50 mins). From Grantham station, trains offer fast services to cities further afield such as Leeds, and across to the Lincolnshire seaside at Skegness.

Belmont Community Primary School on the edge of Grantham is less than 2 miles away (4 minutes by car) whilst Belton Lane Community Primary is less than 3 miles (6 minutes) both rated Good by Ofsted. For secondary education, The King’s School (for boys) and Kesteven and Grantham Girls’ School are extremely highly regarded state grammar schools rated Outstanding by Ofsted. Other popular secondary schools are Greenfields Academy and Walton Academy both rated Good by Ofsted.
