Military Use: The barracks became the depot for the 62nd (Wiltshire) Regiment and the 99th (Lanarkshire) Regiment, and later the depot for the amalgamated Wiltshire Regiment.
World Wars: During World War I, the barracks served as a processing and call-up centre for soldiers and reservists. In World War II, a part of the site was a prisoner of war camp for German and Italian personnel, where the "Devizes Plot" to stage a mass escape and attack London was hatched.
Post-Military Use: The barracks ceased operations in the later 20th century, eventually being redeveloped for modern use.
As you step through the front door, you’re welcomed into a stylish entrance hall with attractive wooden flooring, setting the tone for this characterful apartment.
