The history of Rowden Court goes back to the 1870's when Lord Revelstoke, formerly Edward Baring of the Baring Brothers Bank, lavished money on his Membland Hall estate, being some 4,000 acres of the lovely South Hams countryside centred on his Jacobean mansion at Membland.
