Craigdow is a small farm extending to about 86.10 acres (34.84 hectares) in a scenic and private rural setting. The farm is accessed via a long stone track (approximately 0.8 miles) leading from the minor public road at Lochspouts and passing through open farmland with a small ford crossing point. The farmhouse and steading sit centrally within the land holding.

The farmhouse is of traditional stone and slate construction and requires full refurbishment. The accommodation is presented over two floors with a southerly aspect. The house benefits from double glazing but is in poor order internally. On the ground floor there is a kitchen with no units or working cooker / appliances, living room, shower room and one bedroom which can also be used as a second reception room. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms (with coombed ceilings and dormer windows), and one bathroom which has been stripped of fixtures and fittings.

Craigdow Farmhouse has a stone barn attached on the eastern elevation also featuring a slate roof and the house could be extended into this space subject to the necessary consents. Situated to the north of the farmhouse is a further stone building which has an asbestos cement roof covering and also a general purpose building of timber frame with corrugated iron cladding used for general storage.

The farmland is currently a mixture of permanent pasture and rough grazing. It is classified as a combination of Class 4 and Class 5 by the James Hutton Institute. The land varies in altitude between 165m and 191m above sea level. There are extensive areas of wetness and rushes/bracken and the fences are generally in need of restoration.

Craigdow is situated within a scenic part of South Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland, within close proximity to Maybole and about 12 miles southwest of Ayr. The surrounding area is renowned for its active farming community, as well as country sporting and leisure opportunities.
Situated in a prime position within the rural landscape, Craigdow is surrounded by picturesque farmland, heatherclad hills and forestry. Local services are available at Maybole (5 miles) which has a good variety of shops including a small supermarket, petrol station, pharmacy and bakery as well as primary and secondary schooling and sports facilities within a brand new state of the art campus on the edge of the town.
The county town of Ayr is easily accessible and provides a wider range of high street shops and supermarkets, private schooling, banking and professional services, an excellent range of restaurants and a variety of sports and recreational facilities. There is a well-established livestock market on the outskirts of Ayr as well as in Lanark (57 miles) and Stirling (74 miles). Scottish Rural University College (sruc) and University of the West of Scotland (uws) share a state of the art campus in Ayr town centre.
Ayr is also home to a first class racecourse which is the home of the Scottish Grand National meeting held annually in spring. Robert Burns, Scotland’s National Bard, was born in Alloway - a beautiful village on the edge of Ayr where the National Trust’s Robert Burns Birthplace Museum is located.
Communication links in the area are excellent: The A77(M), linking the north and south by road, is within 10 minutes’ drive. There are railway stations in nearby Maybole and Ayr. The nearest airports are Glasgow Prestwick (21 miles) and Glasgow International (about 51 miles) providing flights to a number of European and worldwide destinations.
The Ayrshire coast is renowned worldwide for golfing, with championship courses at nearby Turnberry, Prestwick and Troon. There is also a wealth of opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts and families including Culzean Castle and Country Park (run by the National Trust for Scotland) which is a short drive away, and the beautiful and unspoilt Galloway Forest Park which has rare Dark Sky status and offers excellent walking, mountain biking and fishing.

From the centre of Maybole town, take the B77 along Coral Glen/Miller Terrace on to Dailly Road and exit the town. Continue for 1.7 miles, crossing the railway bridge (Capenoch Bridge), and shortly afterwards, take the next right hand turning. Take the next left hand turning passing Spring Garden Farm and then turn left at Burncrooks ridge. Follow the road to Lochspouts where the tarmacadam public road ceases. The remainder of the access follows a long stone track (approximately 0.9 miles) leading to Craigdow. The stone track is in poor condition and we recommend that access is taken by 4x4 vehicles only.
