Property description
In owner’s words:
Set within this unique and stunning gated private development with its outdoor 25 m(82.0ft) swimming pool and its own Porter, this delightful studio apartment flat is situated on the ground floor in the most desirable and premium location and offering beautiful views of one of the few original swimming pools still fully functioning in London making this magical place a true oasis. The internal space comprises a small entrance area leading to open plan studio room, galley kitchen and a 1930’s style bathroom with a shower over an original roll top bathtub.
Tudor Close is a private development built at the beginning of the 1930's and designed in the 'nostalgic Tudorbethan' style by an architect called A W Reading. Officially inaugurated in 1934 by the Mayor of Lambeth, it was seemingly built as a private rented block to cater for young upwardly mobile couples of the 1930s who could live and play in the same area, apparently very popular with musicians working at the nearby music halls. Two tennis courts at the front were eventually replaced by the large current lawn available to the residents to enjoy. Thankfully the beautiful original swimming pool and an Art Deco style fountain remain, pride and joy of our community of privileged residents.
Friendly little community of young professionals and creative residents. Secluded quiet and leafy location away from the hustle and bustle of Brixton and any street traffic noise. Surrounded by a lush diversity of well looked after plants and flowers making it a pleasant environment for "work-from-home".
Brixton rail and tube stations, the eateries of Brixton Village, Ritzy Cinema, Brixton (O2) Academy and the beautiful Brockwell Park are within easy reach. The cafe-culture of Brixton Hill is right on the doorstep.
Transport links: Only 10 minutes bus journey to Brixton Station. Choice of 10 bus routes, including night services. 11 minutes journey from Brixton Tube Station to Oxford Circus on the Victoria Line.
