We come from Canada and Norway, respectively, so the mid-century architectural style of the house appealed to us, too, reminding us both of home in different ways.”

Outside, the generous garden serves as an extension of the indoor living accommodation. “We have created a lovely al fresco entertaining area, ” the owners say, “which has played host to countless family barbecues and pool parties for our daughter’s school friends. We even had a petting farm with her pony and chickens, which all the children loved! Parties don’t stop at our gate - hoping to foster a sense of community amongst our neighbours, we organised a street party one summer, and the tradition has continued almost every year since with games, barbecues, and open access to our garden.”

The location of the property has much to recommend it, too. “Despite the tranquil setting within easy reach of the New Forest, we are within close proximity of the M3 and M27 for Southampton (10 mins) and the airport (5 mins). Working in Southampton but also needing to travel to London and abroad, this has proven to be the ideal commuter’s address. What’s more, we have fantastic schools close by: Our daughter attended a lovely primary school in one of the nearby villages, which feeds into the increasingly sought-after Cantell secondary school.”
