The Chapel was constructed between 1848 and 1852 and was originally known as St. Saviour's Church. Designed by John Whichcord, a local county surveyor, who also designed the former surrounding asylum buildings. The south aisle, which includes the current east porch was added to the original building back in 1870. The Chapel, converted in later years by Berkeley Homes with the help of English Heritage, retains many period features.
