Lagan Dhu is situated 2 miles north of Bridge of Cally which is on the banks of the River Ardle. Bridge of Cally is a small village centred on the local store (which also has a Post Office) and hotel. While it has a wonderfully private and rural situation, Lagan Dhu is only 8 miles away from Blairgowrie which has two supermarkets, a selection of independent shops and restaurants, health and legal services. The ski slopes at Glenshee are only about 17 miles north, with Braemar and Royal Deeside only about 10 miles further north again. Stalking, shooting and fishing are all readily available locally. The southern border of the Cairngorms National Park is about 10 miles to the north by road.

Perth is easily accessible via Blairgowrie while the A9 at Pitlochry also links south to Perth and north to Inverness. There are railway stations at Pitlochry (with direct links to London and Inverness), Perth and Dundee. Dundee Airport has flights to London and Edinburgh is 64 miles away.

Description

The origins of Lagan Dhu date back as far as the mid-16th century when the property is believed to have belonged to the monks of the Coupar Angus Abbey. The east and west wings of the house, along with a second storey, are believed to have been added in the late 19th century and Lagan Dhu now commands quite a presence. Having been a much loved family home for many years it now requires complete renovation and has potential to be a fabulous house once again.

The formal rooms at Lagan Dhu are at the front of the house situated either side of the main reception hall. Both are lovely big rooms with fireplaces and tall windows filling the rooms with light. Follow the road for about 5 miles until reaching Bridge of Cally. Turn left towards Kirkmichael and after 3 miles, the entrance to Lagan Dhu is on the right hand side.
