Description

Parr Cottage originally dates back to around 1640 built as a farm worker's cottage which has been extended over time. The cottage is brick built and painted with a tile roof. The cottage entrance is via the sun room where the exposed Well with lighting is a feature and the flooring is flag stone. The music room, could also be used a dining room, has a beamed ceiling and an exposed brick wall. The kitchen comprises fitted pine wooden units, an oil fired Rayburn with the utility room conveniently situated next to the kitchen. A back door leads from the utility room out to the garden. The cosy sitting room has a beamed ceiling with an open fireplace and the small study is off the sitting room.

Upstairs are four bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Outside the garden is mainly laid to lawn and to the front of the cottage, with the field to the back. The attractive outbuilding is a small chapel, and there is a garage and a garden store.

Directions

From Salisbury take the A36 to Wilton. In Wilton, follow the A30 to Shaftesbury and then through Shaftesbury follow the A30 towards to Sherborne. In East Stour take the B3092 towards Sturminster Newton.

On approaching Marnhull having passed The Crown Pub on right and on the left hand bend take a right turn along New Street passing St. Gregory’s Church on the right. Proceed along New Street going out of the village and Bat Alley (a no through road) can be found on the left hand side. Turn left on to Bat Alley and Parr Cottage is the very last house at the end of the lane.
