If you are looking for a large bungalow, beautifully fitted out and equipped, in a lovely location, then Brambles fulfils those requirements. It was acquired by the present owners in 2010 and since then has undergone a comprehensive programme of modernisation and refurbishment to an exacting standard. It is luxuriously fitted and equipped, with oil-fired central heating and in addition the kitchen/breakfast room has electric underfloor heating as well as radiators. There is a pressurised hot and cold water system and UPVC double glazing. Rooms are spacious and often have a double aspect, and the principal rooms take full advantage of the southerly aspect and views.
There is a wide entrance porch and a centrally set hallway, with a cloakroom to one side. The sitting room lies at the heart of the property, has a triple aspect, doors to the terrace and entertaining area and a contemporary style Stovax mulit-fuel flush fit stove. The kitchen/breakfast room is beautifully fitted and equipped, has a double aspect and takes full advantage of the views to Melbury Bubb. Off the kitchen is a back hall and a second cloakroom, and a very well fitted utility room.
The principal bedroom enjoys the southerly views, and has direct access to the terrace to enjoy the morning sunshine. It is served by a large ensuite shower room, with easy access shower and in common with the cloakrooms and the second bathroom, is beautifully fitted and tiled. There are three more bedrooms located in this wing of the building, served by the luxurious second bathroom. The study, which is located close to the principal bedroom, is currently used as a dressing room but is equally suitable for use as a fifth bedroom if needed.
A five bar gate opens to a large parking area in front of the bungalow. The driveway continues down the side of Brambles to a further parking area, adjacent to which stands a double garage with electrically operated roller doors, light and power. There is a side storage area for recycling bins and the like.
There is a secluded garden to the front, enclosed by a mature hedge with a sweep of level lawn set with colourful flower borders. There is a garden tool store. At the rear the garden is south facing, and has a sun trap terrace and entertaining area, overlooked by a summerhouse. Beyond is the main sweep of lawn with the backdrop of the farmland of the western end of the Blackmore Vale, with far-reaching views as far as Melbury Bubb. Integrated within the back of the bungalow is a boiler/drying room.
Leigh stands at the western end of the Blackmore Vale, and has a recently built village hall, post office stores, garage and church. The larger village of Yetminster is close by, where there is a range of facilities catering for most everyday needs, including railway station connecting with the coast and cultural centre of Bath. The locality contains some of the finest countryside in the district, with the central Dorset downs situated to the south, much of which are designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The coast is readily accessible at Weymouth and Bridport and there are a number of good golf courses within easy reach. The county town of Dorchester, the historic Abbey town of Sherborne and the regional centre of Yeovil are all within easy driving distance, all have mainline railway stations connecting with London. The A303 can be joined to the north at Wincanton and Yeovil giving good access to the south west peninsula as well as London and the Home Counties on the M3/M25 route.
