In 1825 Charles Barry undertook the Brunswick development project creating decadent properties in Brunswick terrace and then the Square. Brunswick Square was described then as "First Class living" and it's easy to appreciate why. This house was believed to have been built in the opening phase as it is in the South East run, close to the sea front (Number 6). So its likely completion was 1826/27. This beautiful flat retains significant levels of Regency splendour. The main reception room with its: High ceiling, original decorative cornice, huge marble fireplace, 3 stunning floor to ceiling sash windows and balconies is awe inspiring. Agents can too often use expressions like 'stunning' and 'wow Factor' .... I can assure you that this gem certainly does live up to the billing.
Such properties of quality and distinction frequently come with a high burden for maintenance and running costs, as well as expensive lease extensions. Not so this one. It benefits from an exceptionally long lease (understood to be 995 years). It also comes with unusually low maintenance costs - just 2.5% of costs and a genuine 'peppercorn' ground rent of a single pound a year. So those concerned about the potential for large bills can be reassured, that this one makes a very sound investment.
Entry to the building is gained through an impressive large front door. Along the recently refurbished hallway with chandeliers and period carpeting and up to flat on the first floor. The wide staircase has the original cast iron balustrades. The hall decor and demeanour is in-keeping with the buildings rich regency heritage.
Inside the flat and to the left is a double bedroom with en-suite shower. Along the wide hallway next is the kitchen with contemporary white gloss units . Then moving on through ornate double doors into the main reception room. Beautiful features surround you and the high ceiling and huge sash windows create an overwhelming feeling of space and natural light. The iconic views across the grass square and out to sea are nothing short of breathtaking.
The master bedroom is upstairs and has a wonderful claw foot bath in the bathing area.
