Vendors comment "From a cottage style house in a quiet hamlet to a town house in vibrant Bristol was a big move for us; us being two grandparents, two parents and two teenagers with one parent running his consultancy business from home. We looked at quite a few houses, but 40 Durdham Park ticked every box. Just opening the front door revealed some beautiful period features such as the well-kept Victorian tiling and stained glass windows. There were plenty of rooms for three generations to pursue their own interests, schools within walking distance, good bus services, plenty of interesting shops and restaurant/cafes of all types. Facing directly onto the Downs offered lovely picnic places, walks and a sense of being out of the city but with the city centre being only 3 miles away. What’s more the council cuts the grass. We soon felt very much at home.
We have very fond memories of Sunday lunches all together parties for anniversaries, 18th, 30th, 60th and 90th birthdays, youngsters staying at the house at weekends. Children returning after travelling and during University breaks etc. Both children have lived here with their partners before settling into to their new homes. Finally, we welcomed the 4th generation when our daughter and partner moved back into the family home before moving on. Even though our third grandchild loves her new home when she visits, she always wants to play in her bedroom. It’s much quieter now and we need to downsize – but this house will be remembered by all of us as a fine, happy, family home."
An exceptional family house enjoys views towards Durdham Downs and offers an extensive interior retaining a great deal of its original charm and character throughout. The accommodation is set over four floors with a grand entrance hall opening through to the main Reception Room, Dining Room, Study, Cloakroom, Kitchen/ breakfast Room and Utility Room. Stairs rise to the first floor which presents three double bedrooms, family bathroom and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The second floor offers four double bedrooms and bathroom. The lower ground floor currently has a laundry room, home office and plenty of storage space with separate access leading out to the side elevation. Externally there is an attractive and quiet private main garden which is mainly laid to lawn. There is a driveway leading to garage.
A most convenient location with Durdham Downs situated just opposite the house and only a short distance away is Whiteladies Road with its great choice of coffee bars, restaurants, cinema, shops, pubs and supermarkets. The house is well placed for road links into the city centre, M5 and M4 motorways. At Clifton Down the station offers direct links into Temple Meads Station.
We strongly recommend an early appointment to view this superior house. Please contact the Sale’s team to arrange a convenient time to view.
