“We purchased Coldharbour Road from an elderly lady who had lived here all her life. The Deeds show that her father purchased the land on the edge of Redland Green and built two pairs of Edwardian semi-detached houses in Arts and Crafts style of which ours is one. The house is full of Art Nouveau features and indeed our house was well preserved in this way since it had been in one family’s ownership since 1920.

The major structural change that we made was to open-up the lower ground floor to allow level access to the back garden. This basement area had originally been the stables for the horses kept to pull the residents’ coach – the large garage at the bottom of the garden which also belongs to our house was in fact the coach house which back on to Redland Green. We have beautiful views at the rear of open sky and trees. At the front, the house is set back from the road behind a large yew hedge and the views out of the front windows are either of the front garden, or of the Church and trees opposite, giving it a very open and secluded feel.
