This village is part of a thriving community situated on the west coast of Scotland made up of several villages situated on the shores of Loch Gairloch in Wester Ross in the North West Highlands. This is the perfect holiday destination with plenty to see and do.

Gairloch is some 10 miles south east of Melvaig and approximately 70 miles from Inverness and the nearest airport. Gairloch benefits from local amenities such as grocery stores, gift shops, farm and garden store, a 9 hole golf course which has a dramatic setting by the beach, museum, several good quality hotels and eateries, a community centre, leisure centre with sports facilities, bank, filling station and beautiful sandy beaches. There are superb local walks available and fantastic river and loch fishing. There is a swimming pool at Poolewe approximately 6 miles north of Gairloch and Beinn Eighe nature reserve is some 16 miles to the south.
Secondary schooling is provided at Gairloch High School with primary schooling at Gairloch Primary School. Melvaig has a very good bus service and also a library van service.

Directions
From Inverness take the A9 road north to the Tore roundabout where you take the second exit on to the A835. At the next roundabout, continue on the A835 road heading for Ullapool. Continue through the village of Contin and after passing through Garve take the turn off to the left sign posted for Gairloch (A832). Follow this road until you reach Achnasheen and pass through the village. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit sign posted for Gairloch (A832). Melvaig is some 10 miles further along the B8021.
