Property description

Welcome to Bredons Norton Manor, a unique and individual property that can be dated back to 1575-1585. Throughout its history, the property has been used in a variety of ways, but since the current owner took up occupancy in the early 1990's it has been used as a residential dwelling. The village of Bredons Norton is set on the western slope of Bredon Hill, made famous by A.E. Housman's Poem. The village of Bredons Norton dates back to 1086 when it was mentioned in the Domesday Book and has several pretty timber-framed cottages (called cruck cottages due to their construction) and a 12th century thatched tithe barn (now a home) where it is claimed William Shakespeare acted on his Barn Storming Tour. The larger neighbouring village is that of Bredon, which offers a doctors surgery, village primary school with an outstanding ofsted report, village shop and post office as well as a public house and restaurant. Bredon also offers a range of recreational attractions including cricket, football, rugby, bowls and ballet. The village of Bredons Norton is five miles north of the medieval town, Tewkesbury and is sixteen miles from the Regency Spa town of Cheltenham and although surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, access to the M5 and M50 are found within a relatively short distance. Returning to the property, the charm and character of the building is clearly evident, period features are found throughout that include open fireplaces, inglenooks, exposed beams, panelled walls and traditional tiled floors. The accommodation is laid out over three floors with the ground offering five reception rooms, one of which being the Grand Dining Hall. The remaining reception rooms include the breakfast room, sitting room, drawing room and study. The final rooms completing the ground floor include the entrance hall, cloakroom, kitchen and utility room. On the first floor, six of the eight bedrooms are located. All of the bedrooms are double rooms with the master bedroom offering an en suite bathroom and dressing room. Of the remaining five bedrooms, three of these offer en suite bathrooms/shower rooms with the remaining two bedrooms sharing the family shower room. On the upper level, the remaining two bedrooms are found, although neither of these rooms are en suite, there is a bathroom also found on this floor. The remaining rooms are a series of interlinking attic rooms and are being used for storage. Outside, the formal gardens are a delight. Designed by the owners, there are multiple flower beds offering an abundance of colour throughout the seasons. Formal lawns surround the property and give a feeling of tranquillity and seclusion, whilst also allowing one to enjoy the rolling countryside that neighbours this historic property. Furthermore, there is an outdoor pool, private seating areas and a pond. To own a property such as Bredons Norton Manor is to own a piece of history, where one becomes a custodian of British Heritage. Very rarely does a person get the chance to own such a property and it is because of this, that this very special property should be highly considered for viewing.

Take A435 Evesham Road from Cheltenham and continue out passing the Gotherington and Woolstone turnings. Bear left soon after these turnings and continue again. At the crossroads, go straight over, carry on through Kinsham to Bredon. At the next T junction turn left. Turn right for Pershore and continue on this road for a couple of miles. Take the turning on the right for Bredon's Norton. Turn right in the village and continue up the lane, turn right at the top and Bredon's Norton Manor driveway is on the left hand side.
