Meriden Meriden is a village in the borough of Solihull, within the West Midlands. It has a population of approximately 2,700 and is protected by the green belt of the Meriden Gap. Meriden has a memorial to all cyclists who died in the First World War and was also home to the Triumph motorcycles factory for three decades after the firm's Coventry works were destroyed in the war. Steve McQueen and Richard Gere both collected motorbikes in person from the Meriden factory. Elo musician Jeff Lynne lived at Meriden before selling his mansion to UB40's Robin Campbell in 1995.
