Originally two cottages, believed to date back to the early 18th century, Pry House has been sympathetically renovated and extended to create a comfortable family home retaining a wealth of period features.
The entrance porch with stone flagged floor leads in to the comfortable sitting room, which has a Rayburn open fire set within a stone arched recessed fireplace and matching stone flagged floor. The ceiling has original beams and the south facing window with deep sill, enjoying open views over the gardens and countryside beyond. The kitchen is accessed from the sitting room and has a range of painted cabinetry with a combination of both wooden and tiled work surfaces incorporating a Belfast style sink. There is an integrated dishwasher with matching fascia and two oven oil fired Aga for cooking purposes. There are terracotta-coloured ceramic tiles on the floor which extend in to the walk in larder, which is shelved and has a window to the north elevation. The laundry is plumbed for the washing machine, has a door to the side of the property and leads in to the ground floor cloaks with WC and pedestal basin.
From the sitting room, a door leads to the inner hallway with stairs up to the first floor. Located across the hallway is the bookroom, a lovely second reception room with inglenook style fireplace housing a Morso Squirrel multi fuel burning stove. There are windows to the south and east elevations making this a bright and sunny room, the ceiling again is beamed and there is a large shelved understairs cupboard for storage. The floor is polished wood boards and there is an extensive range of bookshelving fitted to the rear wall.
The landing area has two windows with views over open fields, airing cupboard housing the hot water cylinder and door off to the well-proportioned master bedroom. There is also access to a floored out loft with ladder and electric light for extra storage. A lobby leads to the main bedroom area which has a built in cupboard giving hanging and shelving space. The ceiling is beamed and there are windows to the south and east elevations giving maximum light. The en suite bathroom has a free standing roll top bath with rain shower over, there is a washbasin and WC, part-tiled and part wood panelled walls and a window with window seat overlooking the gardens.
There are three further double bedrooms, all with fitted cupboards and all enjoying views over open countryside. The family bathroom has a white suite comprising panelled bath with shower attachment to taps, WC and wash basin. The walls are part tiled and there is a glazed shower screen over the bath.
The property is accessed via a driveway leading through fields to both Pry House and Pry Cottage. The graveled drive to the front has a gravel garden, there is ample parking to the side and rear, a large wooden shed, oil tank, coal bunker and bin store.
The south facing gardens are an undoubted feature and have been thoughtfully created by the current owner with formal lawns, interspersed with planted borders with mature shrubs, beech and privet hedging. The woodland area has meandering pathways leading through with a profusion of wild flowers such as cowslip and wild primrose and leads into an orchard area. Sweeping down beyond the woodland is an area of wild garden with a stream running through, a bridge gives access to the gated grazing 5 acres which is clearly visible from the house. There is a public footpath which runs to the side of the property.
