This former railway line once provided a London-facing connection between the two railway lines crossing at East Grinstead. It was constructed in 1882 and remained in use until its closure in 1967.

Situated to the north of East Grinstead Mainline Station, accessed off Grosvenor Road and the Worth Way cycle route leading to the boundary of the site, adjacent to the car park. There is an established desire path through the site and among informal users, this route has been used by maintenance staff to inspect and maintain the structures of the land.
