The village of Llantrisant must be one of the largest in South Wales having a population of 5,313 at the last census and which has probably increased further subsequently. It stands just 2 miles from junction 30 of the M4 motorway making it a central location for those working throughout South Wales, most particularly Cardiff. The village is also the home of His Majesty’s Treasury, The Royal Mint which generates much employment, so this is not purely a dormitory location.

The Cross Keys stands on the main square in the heart of the old village, this central area having a number of commercial properties, mostly shops and other hospitality businesses. The Cross Keys is a substantial property offering well appointed open plan bar areas as well as a first floor function room, ample owners accommodation and an external trading area. Trade areas

Entrance vestibule provides access into open plan bar areas all arranged around a central bar servery which is the fulcrum of the trading area and has counters to three sides providing 12 metres of serving counter. The room is arranged on split levels and has principally boarded floor, tongue and groove panelled walls and heavily beamed ceiling. There is some exposed antique brick walling. The room is principally split into two areas being a games section which has poseur style tables, TVs, darts throw and pool table and the other laid to traditional seating and dining which has dralon upholstered Captains and Regency chairs. This area can cater for up to 40 or so diners and there is similar space within the games/bar area. To the rear of the trading area in an inner hallway is a set of ladies’ and gentlemen’s customer toilets. The catering kitchen is conveniently located central to the pub and is well appointed, has altro nonslip flooring, fully sealed walls and a selection of stainless steel catering effects and work surfaces.

At basement level is a beer cellar which has delivery access from the side of the premises.

At first floor level is a function room which can seat up to 40 or so customers. It also has its own servery and a set of ladies’ and gentlemen’s customer toilets
